Maths - Place Value to 100
In this topic we will be looking back on our previous learning to extend our understanding of place value from 50 to 100. The children will count in ones and tens, create numbers using dienes and learn about the hundreds digit.

I have attached below version A of their upcoming assessments. The questions have different answers to version B that we use in school. There questions and practical activities for you to try with your child at home and support them in their maths learning.
Upcoming Maths Assessment Practice
English - Whiffy Wilson
In our writing, the children are making a poster about Year 1. This will include everything that they have learnt so far in all subjects and where everything is in the classroom. This will then be shared with the current year R class to tell them what to expect when they become year 1.
We noticed how in the story the author chose to use contractions such as didn't and wouldn't. We will practice creating these and writing them into a sentence. The children will also consider how to structure a poster so that they are easy to read and understand.

Geography - Bright Lights, Big City
In geography, we will be learning about London. Together we will investigate how big the city is, how many people live there, why it is so busy and what happened in 1666?

Science - Plant Parts
This term we will be exploring different types of plants, plant parts and the importance of them. We will investigate how flowers grow and what they need to survive. At the end of the topic, the children will observe how small changes happen over a long period of time.

We have now started to grow some plants of our own in the classroom. Together we scooped the soil, sowed the seeds and watered the plants. Over time we will observe the changes and potentially collect the vegetables they grow.
