PGL 2026

PGL 2026 is nearly here!  Check back daily for photos and see what we are up to.

Day 1

It has been a very exciting and busy day here at PGL.  After arriving and eating lunch the first activity was vertical challenge.  This involved climbing up a scramble net, onto a climbing wall, then a ladder and finally to reach the top climb through a tunnel of hoops.  We were very impressed by everyone’s determination and resilience at giving it a go.  Then it was onto archery.  Again, everyone took part and enjoyed the challenge.  Special mention must go to Sherisse who not only hit the gold but was told it was the most accurate shot our PGL guide, Darcy, has ever seen!!  Dinner was enjoyed by all and then it was onto the evening activity called ‘Game show.’  They are all still very excited, tired and looking forward to a full day of activities tomorrow.

Day 2

It has been a beautiful day here at PGL, the sun has been shining all day and we have had a fun packed day.  This morning the children took part in a sensory trail where they lost their sense of sight and had to rely on other senses and each other to make it through various obstacles.  After this it was Jacob’s ladder, which everyone participated in and encouraged each other-great team work from everyone.  This afternoon was laser tag and zip wire.  Great fun was had by all and even Mrs Searle made out down the zip line!  Balloon splash was our evening activity where each team had to work together, using various different materials, to construct a case to protect a water balloon from being dropped.  Any balloons that remained intact were then thrown at Darcy our leader.  Hopefully the children will sleep well tonight, before we head off to Portland tomorrow morning to go sailing.

Day 3

Another day full of fun and sunshine here at PGL.  This morning we went over to Portland to the national sailing academy for keel boat sailing.  The sea was lovely and calm but there was just enough wind to get up some good speed and the children enjoyed steering the boat and learnt how to turn using the sails.  This afternoon was giant swing.  This was a real team effort where three children were on the swing and the rest of the team pulled a rope to hoist them up into the air, then it was time for someone on the swing to pull the rope to release it. There was lots of screaming and laughter!  Then it was time for fencing, where the children learnt some basic moves and enjoyed using the foils to spar with each other.  This evening we broke into small teams and played a giant game of cluedo around the site.  Staff dressed up as different characters and the children had to run to different locations, meet the characters and complete tasks to gain clues and find out who had stolen the giant fossil. Surely the children are tired and will sleep well tonight?  Tomorrow they area looking forward to a trip to the beach, trapeze and then back to the national sailing academy for some kayaking.

Day 4

Our final full day at PGL started a little chillier than we had been used to but the sun soon came out!  The first activity of the day was trapeze.  Again the children conquered their fears and as one so eloquently put it ‘pushed them beyond their limits.  They worked together as a team to hold the rope steady while the climber scaled the pole, up onto the ledge before jumping off to try and reach the target.  They encouraged each other so well, cheering at other’s successes and boosting each other’s confidence with cries of ‘you can do it’ and ‘I believe in you, you’ve got this!.’  The second activity was a beach walk where we went down to the bay and took part on various challenges such as rock stacking, stone throwing contests and creating beach monsters from natural resources.  This afternoon saw us back at the national sailing academy on Portland where the children kayaked over to a small beach and enjoyed some games and fun in the water.  The instructor praised them for their behaviour while out with them on their saying it was not often that a kayak session went so well.  Our Year 6 children have certainly brought our school values or ready, responsible, respectful and resilient away with them!  Tonight excitement is high as they prepare for their last night together and the eagerly awaited disco.

Day 5

The final day at PGL, two more activities and then time to head home. First activity was abseiling.  This was probably the most challenging activity according the children but true to form everyone gave it their best shot.  Mrs Atef had been waiting for this one all week and thoroughly enjoyed her go!  Following this it was archery tag.  It was good to be able to put to good use the skills the children had learned earlier in the week and they all enjoyed this activity.  After an early lunch it was time to head home.  It has been a fantastic week, enjoyed by the children and adults alike. The children have been fantastic ambassadors for our school and we are proud of each and everyone of them for everything that they have achieved this week.
